The enactment of ADA (Americans with disabilities)  laws is about to celebrate it's 20th anniversary.  The law mandates that public venue must provide the handicapped with access to goods and services and accomodations.

It's about to get tougher.  On March 15, 2012 new "stiffer" requirements will become effective including rest rooms, parking and more.

Under the new mandates for example the number of ADA compliant entrances to a building goes from 50% to 60%. Restrooms will need single user stalls with more clearance forward and side approaches.  The max height for fixtures (bathroom) is reduced from 54 inches to 48. Seating must be disbursed throughout assemblage areas and provide for companion seating.

Currently some 50 Million Americans have a disability accoriding to federal data.  By 2030 it extimated 71.5 million over 65 will need accomodations.

If your building does not comply you still have time to complete under the old standards but that lasts only to March 15, 2012.  Save some money, explore your options now.  For help call me, Claude Gardner, 386 846 4135.  www.BusinessLocationsOnLine.com/Resume.
